Rainbow Preschool is a not-for-profit managed by a voluntary committee made up of parents and grandparents whose children attend the preschool. The committee works closely with the Preschool Manager and staff to ensure the smooth running of the Preschool.

The committee is made up of:

  • Chairperson
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Between two and nine other elected members

We encourage parents to join the committee and help the Preschool in whatever way they can. It is a great opportunity for you to become involved with the Preschool, as well as making new friends!

Volunteers usually join the committee at the AGM in November and stay for a year or maybe longer! Meetings are relaxed and informal and held usually every six weeks.

The committee is responsible for:

  • Agreeing and adopting policies to ensure a high quality service for parents/guardians
  • Ensuring compliance with the regulatory bodies such as Ofsted
  • Employing and managing staff
  • Managing the preschool’s finances
  • Ensuring the preschool works in partnership with parents
  • Fundraising

A note about Not-For-Profits

Rainbow is not run as a business for the benefit of share-holders but as a not-for-profit organisation. This means that any profits made go back into the preschool. We charge fees which we believe are reasonable and allow Rainbow to be accessible by all members of our community and so fundraising becomes a key objective to allow us to purchase new materials and fund outings for the children. The committee work hard, alongside parents, to raise funds for the preschool.
