Key working and Tapestry

Key working

Rainbow Preschool has designated Key People, each with a group of children for whom they are particularly responsible.

Your child’s Key Person will be the person who works with you to make sure that the childcare that we provide is suited to your child’s needs and interests. They will be available for you to discuss any concerns you may have and we also include a red book in your book bag for non-urgent communications with your Key Person and other staff members.

Parents’ guide to Tapestry

All children attending Rainbow Preschool will have a personal online Learning Journey which records photos, observations and comments in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. This enables us to build up a record of each child’s learning and achievements during their time with us, with reference to the EYFS profile, so you know which area of learning your child is achieving in and the age-band they were working in for that activity.

We use the Tapestry system, which is hosted on secure, dedicated servers based in the UK. You will have password protected access to your child’s online Learning Journey and we encourage you to contribute to it by uploading photos, videos or comments of their learning development and experiences at home. You are also able to like and/or comment on observations made by Rainbow staff.

If you do not have access to the internet, we are able to download your child’s Learning Journey as a pdf file that can either be printed, or saved onto a USB stick.

To see your child’s Learning Journey, go to the Tapestry website.
